Tupac had it right when he spoke about “Changes”.

Notoriously (see what I did there?), last weekend would have easily been my favourite of the year;

  • The Footy Show Grand Final is over which marks the end of another very busy (but even more rewarding) few months
  • The Footy Show Grand Final drink would’ve been a massive evening full of controversy and great stories
  • The Footy Show Grand Final recovery drink would’ve happened so everyone could share their Grand Final Footy Show drink stories or fill in any blanks from the evening before
  • the NRL Grand Final was from many accounts “the best ever” (oddly enough, I didn’t see a ball passed!)
  • the AFL Grand Final always lends itself to a mammoth day of tacos, wings, beers and cocktail jugs at The Norfolk (although I may have boycotted it this season based purely on the participants. The footy, that is, not my spiritual home), and
  • to round it all off, TV mad Monday would’ve just about seen my liver pack in even after being given an extra hour of sleep.

However, haven’t times changed (see what I did there?)? Instead I was sitting in Row B in the East Upper of Twickenham, watching Foley and the boys punish the hosts. I tell you what, missing last weekend at home was hard but being at Twickenham was well worth it! And this weekend? Well in the past I’d have been track side for Derby Day. Instead, a Category A upgrade for Australia’s famous win over Wales. Oh how good! Just imagine how much fun we could’ve had if Japan played Wales in the quarters. Think about that one…
